Our operations are structured into a group of companies, where mother company ABM Agro is undertaking direct investments into its subsidiaries and undertakes central management of farmland and forest assets of the group.
Each subsidiary is set up to collect, consolidate and operate regional portfolios of the acquired farmlands and forests.
We acquire farmland with connected forest areas.
We undertake the inspection of every plot of land. This allows us to evaluate its factual quality, as well as estimate further use and additional funding necessary for quality improvements. Prior to the acquisition, we undertake secure and transparent legal due diligence.
We ensure rightful registration and further accounting services.
We undertake the management of our farmland and forest assets, focusing on increasing the value of our acquisitions.
We gradually restructure our portfolio by swapping or selling distant land units that do not serve further purpose of our consolidation goal and farm efficiency.
We seek out capable and vetted farmers with a focused and financially viable agricultural business and enter into an agreement with the farmer for an initial 5-year term on operation.
We believe that our investments in farmland and forests fosters the capacity of Latvia to participate in local and global food supply. In partnership with our local operators and farm managers, we ensure efficient utilization of farmland and forests and strengthen the competitiveness of the country and local farmers.
We aim for the development of the economic capacity of the local farmers and foresters – our partners. Our investments make agriculture services, farming, and living possible in the countryside of Latvia, also safeguarding the productive capacity of a valuable national resource – farmland and forests.
Being a long-term owner and manager of agricultural lands, our business aims for sustainable agriculture and forestry that would generate stable rental income and value from dividends. Essentially, our operations are based around lifetime investment with long-term goals for efficient use of the abundant agricultural resources that Latvia has to offer.
We find it imperative to take care of the abandoned farmlands and forests by putting our efforts and funding in re-cultivation of overgrown agricultural areas, maintenance and restoration of melioration systems, as well as planting historically clear-cut forests.
Area melioration affected by ditches – 26.0 ha; area affected by melioration systems – 121.0 ha.
The total length of ditches set for renewal – 4125m. As a result of this project, two sedimentation ponds were rebuilt, as well as 7 culverts and 15 drainage outlets were renewed.
Plant cover removed from the protective zone of the ditch; 3 sedimentation ponds built; cleaning and deepening of the ditches for the total length of 3942 km (amount of excavated soil – around 11900 m3); 23 drainage outlet collectors renewed; two culverts renewed and three culverts built. The area affected by the melioration systems – 127.9 ha.
The asset was purchased together with land that was covered in bushes and ruins of a building. It could not be used for agriculture.
The building was dismantled and the territory – cleaned up. The plant cover was removed, and the roots were extracted from the ground, turning the area back into agricultural land
Through long-term agreements and tailored cooperation with local farmers and specialized contractors, we manage our farmland and forest assets most efficiently. We provide an asset-light opportunity for local farmers to concentrate their financial capacity on primary agricultural production.
We take great care when it comes to selling, leasing, or buying farmland, as these are capital-heavy processes with considerable economic impact. This asset class demands constant funding and care to maintain its market value and productive capacity.
